The NBD Model

NBD Network reduces risk, strengthens response coordination, and builds institutional readiness for high-acuity mental health crises on post-secondary campuses. We implement structured, evidence-informed crisis response systems through a phased model: assessment and readiness, system design, training and implementation, and long-term evaluation and refinement. Our work is embedded within existing campus services, policies, and governance structures to ensure durability, accountability, and sustainable impact.

Spiral Staircase

01

Phase 1: Institutional Mapping and Risk Analysis

NBD establishes a structured understanding of how crises currently move through the institution, including decision points, role boundaries, and escalation logic.

02

Response Architecture and Workforce Development

NBD defines the formal structure of the response system, including role typologies, protocols, supervision logic, and inter-unit coordination, alongside a standardized training framework delivered through the NBD curriculum.

03

Performance Monitoring and System Stabilization

NBD situates the model within institutional governance, outlining how protocols are maintained, reviewed, and adjusted over time.

Student mental health demands more than intention. It requires systems that work.
